Shelter Prevention Program
The prevention program began in 2002 with the purpose of assisting former Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley residents to maintain housing and income in the community, after moving out of the shelter. The prevention program can also intervene to ensure that people already living in the community are connected to community supports which will enable them to maintain their current housing arrangements.
The primary financial assistance offered to eligible clients through the prevention program are security deposit, rent, utilities, car repair so that employment can be maintained and housing payments can be made.
In June of 2008, the prevention program formally merged with LEAVEN in order to streamline the intake process, formulate case plans and provide follow-up services to those at risk of housing loss. Several well trained volunteers offer skilled assistance to the program. Additional components of the program which aid clients are the individual discussions regarding financial barriers, specific referrals to community partners and the follow-up process to insure that the funds that were allocated were used in an effective manor.
For prevention program assistance, please call 920-738-9635 or clients may present at the LEAVEN office to make an appointment (1475 Opportunity Way, Menasha 54952).
