PRIDE Class
Providing residents with specialized case management support enhances the likelihood of securing and maintaining employment. One to one vocational case management, in addition to classroom instruction, results in greater employment attainment, retention and wage at placement.
Classroom instruction (PRIDE) is provided daily to enhance vocational and life skills. The PRIDE instructor's role is to educate residents using a curriculum created to address employment and rental skills and to provide information needed to help residents connect to other related resources in the community.
This comprehensive program focuses on teaching residents how to overcome employment barriers such as a criminal background, poor work history or poor credit history which may otherwise keep them from being successful on the job and in housing.
Numerous community collaborations exist with the PRIDE program to help in its success. Partners such as the Fox Valley Technical College, UW-Oshkosh Nursing Program, local landlords and many of the Fox Cities Housing Coalition member agencies help provide guest speakers to teach specialized lessons in PRIDE about health, finances, fair housing, resume writing, interviewing, resources for low-income housing and housing law.
